the MOVIE CLUB

What is “the MOVIE CLUB”???

Lots of alternative films are being made in Nepal; slowly opportunities for such films are being visible. Generally, alternative films are short in the form of films and documentaries; most of them made by amateurs and budding filmmakers. These films rarely get opportunity to show in cinema halls or in front of larger mass of people and hence remain inside the folder of the computer. Incentives to these filmmakers are very less due to near to nil exposure.

Onion Films is all about alternative films. We want to promote experimental short films. Every month we feature one filmmaker along with his film followed by a discussion, specially focusing on -
Behind the scene
Filmmakers' perspective towards his/her film

This group believes that filmmaking can only improve when traditional ways of making films are changed and creators of film are motivated to experiment their ideas.

Onion film club provides an extraordinary platform to meet people who love, talk, watch and make films and helps to get involved in the world of cinemas.

First Setting:
This month we are screening “Greater Nepal”

Greater Nepal, a must see documentary by Manoj Pandit which reviews the Sugauli Treaty and the lost lands of ancient Nepal. It is truly an jaw-dropping documentary which reviews Nepal’s history in Sugauli Treaty and shows us how we are being deprived of our rightful lands.
This documentary not only focuses on the history, but also at present times, where we are being looted, but we can do nothing but stand helpless.
It is an attempt to make Nepalese aware of this situation and raise a voice against the injustice we have faced and are still facing. It carries a dream which it hopes to fulfill with proper hard work and times.
Truly a must see documentary for all Nepalese.

Followed by a discussion with filmmaker focusing on behind the scene and his perspective towards the film
